Multiplied Projects was founded in 2025 by artist and master printer Doug Bennett in downtown Raleigh, NC. Drawing on his experience as a master printer at renowned New York studios including ULAE, Two Palms, Lower East Side Printshop, and The LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies, Bennett set out to create a collaborative hub for Raleigh’s vibrant arts community. His vision was a space where artists from all disciplines could experiment, produce new print-based work, and connect with wider audiences.
Unlike traditional printmaking studios, Multiplied Projects centers on digital technologies and the new possibilities they open for artists. As Bennett explains, “The relationship between artist and printer is the same, and the process of building an image is the same. The result carries the same rigor and collaboration you’d expect from a traditional print studio—the only difference is how we get there.” Whereas lithography or intaglio involve creating imagery directly on stone or copper plates to be inked and printed, digital methods allow artists to generate marks and images on a range of materials, scan them, and use software to layer and transform them into a finished print.
The mission of Multiplied Projects is twofold: to establish a sustainable model for collaborative printing in Raleigh (and eventually the Southeast), and to foster greater appreciation for collaborative printmaking while encouraging new audiences to collect original prints.
